[ LaiaMC ] A arrel de les notícies que han aparegut recentment als mitjans de comunicació sobre la instal•lació d’un parc eòlic al Delta de l’Ebre, la Confraria de pescadors de Sant Carles de la Ràpita es pronuncia al respecte tot destacant les enormes repercussions que aquest projecte pot tenir a la zona.
Les notícies parlen d’un gran parc eòlic que agrupa 9 parcs, dins d’un espai de 15 quilòmetres, amb uns 140 aerogeneradors, de 155 metres d’alçada, que generaran uns 3 MW de potència cadascun. Les conseqüències que aquesta instal•lació pot portar són:
• Situació de perill per als 200 vaixells que hi treballen (115 de la Confraria de St. Carles de la Ràpita). La infraestructura comporta una sèrie d’obstacles tant de nit, quan la visibilitat és nul•la; com de dia, ja que no sempre hi ha bona visibilitat. A més, la força de les aspes provocarà forts vents que faran afectaran en la navegació, sobre tot als vaixells més petits com els trasmallers. La única solució seria separar-se de la costa, amb el que tot això implica: no poder pescar les mateixes espècies, temps perdut i augment del consum de gasoil, i per tant, augment del cost.
• Fort impacte mediambiental al Delte de l’Ebre. Segons el conveni d’Oslo (OSPAR, 1992) i el de Helsinki (HELCOM, 1992), els fonaments dels molins influenciaran en la hidrologia i en la sedimentació. A més, les pales dels molins absorbiran les aus i provocaran una energia que inevitablement influenciarà la fauna terrestre i marina.

Sant Carles de la Ràpita és una població que té una forta i arrelada tradició pesquera, de fet és una de les poques activitats econòmiques que té arrelades. A més, té una flota de les més importants i modernes de Catalunya, i per tant de la Mediterrània Occidental.
